Public Analysts are appointed by food authorities to assess the safety and compliance of foods sampled by Environmental Health and Trading Standards. They provide advice on sampling and appropriate analysis to be carried out on foods based on risk assessment, legislation and expert knowledge and interpret the results with regard to compliance with legislation and safety requirements.
